Download verification

Verify your Lunex download

Check that the ISO you downloaded is exactly the file listed for this release before you boot it.

1. Save the release files

Download the ISO and the SHA-256 checksum list from the same release section. A final checksum appears only after the release has been verified. Do not substitute the hash of an earlier build.

2. Calculate the ISO’s SHA-256

Open a terminal in the folder containing your downloaded ISO. Use the command for your current system.

Windows PowerShell

Get-FileHash .\lunex-os-0.8-x86_64.iso -Algorithm SHA256

macOS

shasum -a 256 lunex-os-0.8-x86_64.iso

Linux

sha256sum lunex-os-0.8-x86_64.iso

3. Compare every character

The resulting 64-character hexadecimal hash must exactly match the ISO’s SHA-256 on the download page and in the checksum file. Letter case does not matter. Confirm that you are comparing the ISO entry rather than the source or repair archive.

If it does not match, do not boot or install it.

Delete the incomplete or mismatched download, download it again from the release page, and check again. If it still differs, stop rather than assuming it is safe.

What a checksum can tell you

A matching SHA-256 confirms that two files contain the same bytes. A checksum delivered alongside a file does not, by itself, establish publisher identity or prove software safe. The ISO is unsigned and Secure Boot is not supported.

The separate integration-update framework uses an enrolled publisher key to verify signed releases. That production channel has not been activated. See how updates work.
